The Battle for Faith

THE BATTLE WITHIN —part 

August 15, 2021

1. EVERYONE doubts sometimes.

1 Kings 19:2-8—So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “May the gods punish me and do so severely if I don’t make your life like the life of one of them by this time tomorrow!” 3 Then Elijah became afraid and immediately ran for his life. When he came to Beer-sheba that belonged to Judah, he left his servant there, 4 but he went on a day’s journey into the wilderness. He sat down under the broom tree and prayed that he might die. He said, “(I have had) enough! Lord, take my life, for I’m no better than my fathers.” 5 Then he lay down and slept under the broom tree. Suddenly, an angel touched him, “Get up and eat.” 6 Then he looked, and there at his head was a loaf of bread baked over hot stones and a jug of water. So he ate and drank and lay down again. 7 Then the angel of the Lord returned a second time and touched him. He said, “Get up and eat up and eat, or the journey will be too much for you.” 8 So he got up and ate and drank.

2. FAITH is the fuel to overcome our doubts.

To fuel up on faith we must . . . 

• Look UP
  • Psalm 121

• PRAY & FAST
  • Mark 9:23-29

• Take doubt CAPTIVE
  • 2 Corinthians 10:4-5
  • Philippians 4:8

3. Faith takes ACTION.

4. QUIT DOUBTING that you have enough faith!

1 Kings 19:11-12—A great and mighty wind was tearing at the mountains and was shattering cliffs before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was  a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was a voice, a soft whisper.

Matthew 17:20 —For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

Big Take Away

I have a WEAPON against doubt.  It is FAITH.  Even if it’s the size of a mustard seed, I CHOOSE to use it!

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name.  Amen
