REALIGN—part 5

2 Peter 1:20-21—Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
2 Timothy 3:16—All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
Matthew 6:24—(Jesus said) No one can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
I. CPC Code: We will lead the way with .
1. Generosity displays the HEART of God.
The Hebrew word for generosity is TZEDAKAH – “ to do
an act of JUSTICE or RIGHTEOUSNESS.”
1 John 3:16-18—This is how we have come to know love: He laid down his life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has this world’s goods and sees a fellow believer in need but withholds compassion from him—how does God’s love reside in him? 18 Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth.
2. Generosity is an act of WORSHIP.
Proverbs 3:9—Honor the Lord with your possessions and with the first produce of your entire harvest;
II. Develop a PLAN based on Biblical principles.
Proverbs 23:4-5—Don’t wear yourself out to get rich; because you know better, stop! 5 As soon as your eyes fly to it, it disappears, for it makes wings for itself and flies like an eagle to the sky.
1. Invest in the KINGDOM.
a) TITHE means a tenth—10%.
Leviticus 27:30—Every tenth of the land’s produce, grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.
2. Invest in the FUTURE.
a) Plan for savings and for offerings.
Proverbs 6:6—Go to the ant, you slacker! Observe its ways and become wise. 7 Without leader, administrator, or ruler, 8 it prepares its provisions in summer; it gathers its food during harvest.
Philippians 4:18-19— …I am fully supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you provided—a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Deuteronomy 15:10—Give to him, and don’t have a stingy heart when you give, and because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you do.
2 Corinthians 9:7—Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
3. Invest in the NOW.
Philippians 4:11-13—I don’t say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I find myself. 12 I know how to make do with little, and I know how to make do with a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content—whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. 13 I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me.
Big Take-Away
