Slander defined:  

1. Why does God hate Slander so much?

Proverbs 6:16-19—These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 A false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.

Revelation 21:8—But the cowards, faithless, detestable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars—their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.

a. When we lie or slander, we act like the .

i. Devil means = “ ”

John 8:44— Jesus said, “ You are of your father the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies.”

ii. The devil slandered the truth of God’s (Genesis 3:1).

iii. The devil slandered God’s   (Genesis 3:3-4).

iv. The devil slandered God’s   (Genesis 3:5).

v. The devil slanders before God  (Job 1:6-11).

vi. The devil slanders before mankind  (Matthew 26:59).

Psalm 58:3—The wicked go astray from the womb; liars wander about from birth.

John 8:31-32—Jesus said, “If you continue in My Word, … You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

3. What are we called to do?

     a. Tell the Truth and .

Ephesians 4:15- 32—But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into Him who is the head—Christ. ….22 to take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, 23 to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth. 25 Therefore, putting away lying, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor,  because we are members of one another. 26 Be angry and do not sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and don’t give the devil an opportunity… 31 Let all bitterness, anger

and wrath, shouting and slander be removed from you, along with all malice. 32 And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.
