1 Samuel 16:14-23

1. The  for Our Gifts: The Chaos of Life

1 Samuel 16:14 (NIV) — Now the Spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him.

2. The  Behind Our Gifts: The Engine of the Spirit

1 Samuel 16:18 (NIV) — One of the servants answered, “I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the lyre. He is a brave man and a warrior. He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the LORD is with him.”

Psalm 51:10–11 (NIV) — Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.

3. The  of Our Gifts: To Bring Order Out of Chaos

1 Samuel 16:23 (NIV) — Whenever the spirit from God came on Saul, David would take up his lyre and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.
