A Spark

Acts 4:1-13

June 20, 2021

TWO MIRACLES

  1. Miracle of (from lame to leaping)
  2. Miracle of (from cowardly to courageous)

Acts 4:1 (NIV) — The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people.

Acts 4:8-9 (NIV) — Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: ‘Rulers and elders of the people! If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame . . .”

Acts 4:8-12 (NIV) — If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

JESUS IS THE SPARK

  1. Make Jesus

Acts 3:12-16 (NIV) — “Fellow Israelites, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? . . . It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.”

Acts 4:10 (NIV) — “It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth…that this man stands before you healed.”

Acts 4:12 (NIV) — Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

2. Seek Jesus’

Acts 4:13 (NIV) — When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

Acts 4:20 (NIV) — As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.
