Luke 15:16-24

 

“Deconstruction”: Losing the Plot

John 13:35 (NIV) — “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Recovering the Plot

  1. The Tragedy of -ness.

Luke 15:16 (NIV) — He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

a. The Loss of a

Luke 15:19 (NIV) — ‘I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’

b. The Loss of

  1. The Joy of -ness

Luke 15:20 (NIV) — But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

Luke 15:24 (NIV) — ‘For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.
