Because life began the moment the Spirit our lives, we do ought to be carried out by the Spirit.
2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? 4 Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain? 5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith—
“Walk by the Spirit” means doing you do filled and fueled by the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit has you life — Now let Him your steps.
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.
We are not by the desires when we walk by the Spirit.
Walking by the Spirit is what we do when the desires by the Spirit are than the desires produced by the flesh.
7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Ezekiel 36:26, 27:
A new heart I will give you and a new spirit I will put within you . . . I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in my statutes.

The Spirit leads us by creating to obey God, and we walk in the Spirit by those desires in action.
I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
5 For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
5 For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness.
The inner of the Holy Spirit is far more than the outer influence of our flesh.
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
