Servant King // The King is Born [Part 2 of 2]
December 19, 2021Servant King // The King is Born [Part 2 of 2]
“When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under.” Matthew 2:16
“For today in Bethlehem a rescuer was born for you. He is the Lord Yahweh, the Messiah. You will recognize him by this miraculous sign: You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in the feeding trough! Then all at once in the night sky, a vast number of glorious angels appeared, the very armies of heaven! And they all praised God, singing: ‘Glory to God in the highest realms of heaven! For there is peace and a good hope given to the sons of men.’” Luke 2:11-14 (TPT)
What it means to have a Servant King:
1. Jesus became less for us.
“Though he was in the form of God, he did not consider being equal with God something to exploit. But he emptied himself by taking the form of a slave and by becoming like human beings. When he found himself in the form of a human.” Philippians 2:6-7 (CEB)
“Your gentleness and condescension have made me great.” Psalm 18:35 (ABCE)
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” 2 Corinthians 8:9
2. We make room for Jesus.
“While they were in Bethlehem, the time came for Mary to have the baby, and she gave birth to her first son. Because there were no rooms left in the inn, she wrapped the baby with pieces of cloth and laid him in a feeding trough.” Luke 2:6-7 (NCV)
“I pray that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.” Ephesians 3:17
3. We become less for others.
“Abandon every display of selfishness. Possess a greater concern for what matters to others instead of your own interests. And consider the example that Jesus, the Anointed One, has set before us. Let his mindset become your motivation.” Philippians 2:4-5 (TPT)
