Free At Last // It’s Time [Part 2 of 4]

January 16, 2022   /   Vineyard Church

Six Aspects That Defined The Lives Of OTJ & MLK:

1. Dreams.

“They said to one another: ‘Here comes that master dreamer!’”  Genesis 37:19 (NAB)

“I have a dream” Martin Luther King Jr.
August 28, 1963, Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C.
March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom

2. Persecution and unfair incarceration.

“Was there ever a prophet your ancestors did not persecute?”  Acts 7:52 (NIV)

3. Non-violence in the face of hostility.

“May the Lord avenge the wrongs you have done to me, but my hand will not touch you. As the old saying goes, ‘From evildoers come evil deeds,’ so my hand will not touch you.”  1 Samuel 24:12-13 (NIV)

4. Time in the presence of kings.

“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings…”  Proverbs 22:29 (NKJV)

5. Reconciliation valued over retaliation.

“Now Joseph will pay us back for all the evil we did to him,” they said… But Joseph told them, “Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, to judge and punish you? As far as I am concerned, God turned into good what you meant for evil, for he brought me to this high position I have today so that I could save the lives of many people. No, don’t be afraid. Indeed, I myself will take care of you and your families.” Gen. 50:15, 19-21 (TLB)

Jesus: “So if the Son sets you free, then you will be really free.”  John 8:36

“Father, forgive these people,” Jesus said, “for they don’t know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34 (TLB)

“…If someone does wrong to you, forgive that person because the Lord forgave you.” Colossians 3:13 (NCV)

6. Fully prepared to meet God at death.

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who died while believing in him.” 1 Thes. 4:14 (TPT)

“…To be absent from the body is to present with the Lord.” 2 Cor. 5:8 (KJV)
