Sermon Series: We Are
Big Thought Today: Planning For Harvest
Part of our mission is to live a Life of Generosity. That takes planning & we do so by budgeting our money in such a way that honors God & provides for our family & the Gospel. To do that, our budget should stand on these four pillars: 1. Tithing 2. Savings 3. Sowing 4. Living
Proverbs 27:23-27 “Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, & attend to your herds. 24 for riches are not forever, nor does a crown endure to all generations. 25 When the hay is removed, & the tender grass shows itself, & the herbs of the mountains are gathered in, 26 the lambs will provide your clothing, & the goats the price of a field; 27 you shall have enough goats’ milk for your food, for the food of your household, & the nourishment of your maidservants.”
Proverbs 21:5 “Good planning & hard work lead to plenty, but all who are hasty will surely become poor.”
1. Tithe
The Tithe is the portion we bring back to God from His bountiful blessings on our lives. It provides for the church & it’s mission, but also orients our heart towards trust in God & giving. Matthew 6:21, Proverbs 3:9, Psalms 24:1, Malachi 3:10
2. Save
We set aside a portion of our income to provide an inheritance for our children & their children giving them the opportunity to devote to their God- given purpose & not be laden down with debt & lack. Proverbs 13:22, Proverbs 13:11, Proverbs 21:20
3. Sow
We set aside a portion of our income so that when a need arises, we can Sow & bless others in their time of need to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ & show His love to others. 2 Corinthians 8:7, 2 Corinthians 9:7-8, 10-11
4. Live
This is where we take the remaining portion of our income & budget it in way that honors God & provides for the needs of our family. Proverbs 3:9, 1 Timothy 5:8
Next Steps
1. “What is Jesus speaking to me through this teaching today?”
2. “How can I apply this to my life?”
3. “Who can I share what I’ve learned today with?”
