The Light of Christmas pt3

He Will Be Called

John 8:51–59

Truly I tell you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.”

52 Then the Jews said, “Now we know you have a demon. Abraham died and so did the prophets. You say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.’ 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham who died? And the prophets died. Who do you claim to be?”

54 “If I glorify myself,” Jesus answered, “my glory is nothing. My Father—about whom you say, ‘He is our God’—he is the one who glorifies me. 55 You do not know him, but I know him. If I were to say I don’t know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him, and I keep his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad.”

57 The Jews replied, “You aren’t fifty years old yet, and you’ve seen Abraham?”

58 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, before Abraham was, I am.”

59 So they picked up stones to throw at him. But Jesus was hidden and went out of the temple.

Isaiah 9:6-7

For a child will be born for us,

a son will be given to us,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

He will be named

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Eternal Father, .

The dominion will be vast,

and its prosperity will never end.

He will reign on the throne of David

and over his kingdom,

to establish and sustain it

with justice and righteousness from now on and forever.

The zeal of the Lord of Armies will accomplish this.

Opening Thought: Jesus was just a in a in the same sense that an bomb is just a bomb.

Isaiah 9:6

For a child will be born for us,

a son will be given to us,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

To know Jesus well, you’ve got to know His names.

  1. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, and He always knows what you .

  • The roadblocks and crossroads in your life are opportunities to seek wisdom from Wonderful Counselor.

      2. He will be named Mighty God, so you can finally know what is .

Colossians 1:15–16

He is the image of the invisible God,

the firstborn over all creation.

16 For everything was created by him,

in heaven and on earth,

the visible and the invisible,

whether thrones or dominions

or rulers or authorities—

all things have been created through him and for him.

Colossians 2:9–10

For the entire fullness of God’s nature dwells bodily in Christ, 10 and you have been filled by him, who is the head over every ruler and authority.

      3. He will be named Eternal Father, so you can know your as His child

John 14:6–9

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

“Lord,” said Philip, “show us the Father, and that’s enough for us.”

Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time and you do not know me, Philip? The one who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

  • The Eternal Father is like the fathers.
  • The Eternal Father is infinitely than the fathers.

4.He will be named Prince of Peace, so you can always trust His with you.

Final Thought: We’ve only the of understanding who Jesus really is.
