From Death To Life

  • realities are earthly realities, and is in the balance.

Ephesians 2:1-2

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient.

Ephesians 2:3

We too previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also.

  • Following Jesus is not behavior modification God; it’s heart restoration God.

Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

  • and we live for now matters…and it matters forever.

Ephesians 2:6-7 He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, so that in the he might display the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Luke 21:10–19

Then he told them, “Nation will be raised up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will be violent earthquakes, and famines and plagues in various places, and there will be terrifying sights and great signs from heaven. 12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you. They will hand you over to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. 13 This will give you an opportunity to bear witness. 14 Therefore make up your minds not to prepare your defense ahead of time, 15 for I will give you such words and a wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. 16 You will even be betrayed by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends. . 19 By your endurance, gain your lives.

  • Living with a perspective and the hope of will make us wonderful citizens of

“…a continual looking forward to the eternal world is not (as some modern people think) a form of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do. It does not mean that we are to leave the present world as it is. If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next. The Apostles themselves, who set on foot the conversion of the Roman Empire, the great men who built up the Middle Ages, the English Evangelicals who abolished the Slave Trade, all left their mark on Earth, precisely because their minds were occupied with Heaven. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this.”

–CS Lewis, Mere Christianity

Ephesians 2:8-10 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—not from works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.

  • We are not saved works, but we are saved works.

Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
