THERE IS A REASON – 3
FIND YOUR WHY
I. Abandon All Distractions
“No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62 (NIV)
Distraction 1 – Desire to Ensure Financial Security
“You cannot serve God and money.” Luke 16:13 (NIV)
“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first (more than anything else) his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:31-33 (NIV)
Distraction 2 – Wallowing in Past Mistakes and Failures
“So far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12 (NIV)
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all righteousness.” 1 John 1:9 (NASB)
Distraction 3 – Worrying about What Other People Think
“But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, so we declare it, not to please people but God who examines our hearts.” 1 Thessalonians 2:4 (NASB)
“Turn my eyes from looking at what is worthless; give me life in Your ways.” Psalm 119:37 (HCSB)
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.” Mark 8:35 (NIV)
II. Adopt God’s Purpose
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1 (NIV)
“But I do not consider my life worth anything to myself, so that I may finish my task (complete the work) and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24 (NET)
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 (NASB)
