BECOMING ANTI-FRAGILE

 

Three most common New Year’s resolutions:

  • Exercise to get in shape
  • Diet to lose weight
  • Save money

 

7 Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; 8 for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.   1 Timothy 4:7-8

 

Spiritual transformation is not a matter of trying harder, but of training wisely.

 

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.   1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (NIV)

 

There is an immense difference between training to do something and trying to do something.

 

Following Jesus simply means learning from Him how to arrange my life around activities that enable me to live in the fruit of the Spirit.
