FAME
So David did as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army… So David’s fame spread throughout every land, and the Lord made all the nations fear him. 1 Chronicles 14:16-17
It is not wrong to be famous, but the pursuit of fame can be very dangerous to your faith.
And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you bore witness—look, he is baptizing, and all are going to him.” John 3:26
John answered, “A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven. John 3:27
You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.’ The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. John 3:28-29
Therefore, this joy of mine is now complete. He must increase, but I must decrease.” John 3:30
Whose kingdom are you building?
Whose approval matters most?
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 2 Timothy 3:1-5
“I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they dreamed of so they can see that it is not the answer.” Jim Carrey
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name be the glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! Psalm 115:1
