Galatians 6:11-14,

Boasting in Christ

November 21, 2021   /   Pastor Ross O'Dell   /   Galatians 6:11-14   /   Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church

Why is Paul writing in such large letters? Why is this important to us?

The Apostle Paul lists 4 characteristics or attitudes of the false teachers/Judaizers/wolves who are trying to destroy the Galatian church. What are these 4 characteristics and how do they affect us?

  1. They want to look  in the flesh (this world).

What does 1 Corinthians 3:7 tell us about this?

What three areas does Jesus warn us about in Matthew 6:1-6 about wanting to look good to the world?

  1. Practicing  (verse 1),
  2. Our  (verses 2-4)
  3. Our  (verses 5-6)

What rewards did those who were practicing these things publicly receive?

What warning does Jesus give us in Luke 16:14-15? How should this affect us?

  1. They do not want to be .

Why might the Jews be persecuted as Christians?

What does Matthew 5:10-12 tell us about persecution? How do you respond to persecution?

  1.

What does James 2:10-11 tell us about the Law and works?

Can you be obedient to only part of the Law? Why or why not? What is a “passing grade” in heaven in Law obedience?

  1. Self  or the Numbers .

Why did the false teachers want to convince the Galatians to get circumcised? How do we see this today?

What was Paul’s focus? What does Paul say emphatically in Gal. 6:14? What does it mean to “boast”? What is Paul’s boast? (cf. Rom. 1:16-17)
