I. Creation

Genesis 1:26-28 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 And God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Genesis 2:15-25 15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. 16. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die.” 18. Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” 19. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird ot the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. 20. And the man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him. 21. So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh at that place. 22 And the Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. 23. And the man said, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” 24. For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. 25. And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.

Mark 10:7-9 “FOR THIS CAUSE A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, 8 AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; consequently they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9. “What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”

II. Original Sin

Genesis 3:1-7 1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made, And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’? 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3. but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, “You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.'”4. And the serpent said to the woman, “You surely shall not die! 4. “For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God , knowing good and evil.” 6. When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7. Then the eyes of both of them were opened and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made them-selves loin coverings.

I John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life is not from the Father, but is from the world.

I Tim 2:14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being quite deceived, fell into transgression.
Genesis 3:10-13 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of Thee in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked so I hid myself.” 11. And He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 And the man said, “The woman whom Thou gavest to be with me, she gave me from the tree and I ate.” 13. Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me and I ate.” Genesis 3:14-16 & 24

Rom 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned-

III. Satan is the Father of lies!

John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father f lies. This is Christ’s statement about Satan.

Eph 6:11&12 Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:13-20

IV. We study the OT to avoid repeating the same mistakes the OT forefathers made.

V. Can we argue with God?

Isa 55:8&9 8 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. 9. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are my ways higher than your ways, And my thoughts than your thoughts.

VI. II Pet 2 denounces False Teachers

II Pet 2:9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from the temptation, and to keep the unrighteousness under the punishment for the day of judgement,

Mat 10:16 “Behold I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore be shrewd as serpents, and innocent doves.
