The aim of this series

is to accomplish two key things:

1) Provide Biblical teaching and Biblical practices that lead to Break Through in our lives.

2) Give us all another clear reason to invite our friends, neighbors, and to church.

Philippians 4:8

Finally, brothers, whatever is , whatever is , whatever is just, whatever is , whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

What God Us To Think About

Argument:

Today I want to argue that the things you are thinking about are the very things keeping you from obeying Gods COMMANDS: truth, honor, purity, and excellence.  All of these in perspective of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When you obey God’s Commands:

  1. Truth
  2. Honor
  3. Purity
  4. Excellence

The DSM is the American Psychiatric Association‘s standard reference for psychiatry, which includes over 450 different definitions of mental disorders.

Causes

The causes of mental disorders are often unclear. Theories may incorporate findings from a range of fields. Mental disorders are usually defined by a combination of how a person behaves, feels, perceives, or thinks.[7] This may be associated with particular regions or functions of the brain, often in a social context. A mental disorder is one aspect of mental health. Cultural and religious beliefs, as well as social norms, should be taken into account when making a diagnosis.

Philippians 4:8

Let your mind dwell on these things

5. (8) The right place to put our minds.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Truth

a. Whatever things are true: Paul’s list of things on which we should meditate translates well from the Greek to the English; there is no great need for elaboration upon each item.

b. Noble… just… pure… lovely… good report… virtue… praiseworthy: These, Paul would say, are the fruit and the food of the mind that is guarded by the peace of God. When we put these good things into our mind, they stay in our mind and then come forth from us.

c. Meditate on these things: Much of the Christian life comes down to the mind. Romans 12:2 speaks of the essential place of being transformed by the renewing of your mind and 2 Corinthians 10:5 speaks of the importance of casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. What we choose to meditate on matters.

i. What Paul describes here is a practical way to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

If we believe Jesus is the great physician

If we believe Jesus’ words by faith there can be great impact on our lives
