Joshua 3:5-6
The Lord Will Do Wonders
July 25, 2021 / Joshua 3:5-6“The Lord Will Do Wonders” – Joshua 3:5-6
Psalm 118:23 This is the Lord’s doing; It is marvellous in our eyes.
God never blesses a person, a family, a business, or a church so that they can hold on to their blessings with both hands.
The foundation truth is that we see God’s blessings not just for ourselves, but to give them away to others and to further His work.
Genesis 12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.
I. We Must God’s Blessings
Josh. 3:5-6 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the Lord will do wonders among you. And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.
Luke 24:50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
Romans 4:7-8 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
II. We Must His Blessings
Joshua 4:4-7 Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man: And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel: That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones? Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
2 Chronicles 26:15b-16 And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong. But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, And an haughty spirit before a fall.
III. We Must More of God’s Blessings
Joshua 4:19 And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.
God’s blessing in their past motivated them to press forward into their future.
God’s blessing is not a destination. It is transportation.
Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
This is our scheduled time to say, “Thank you God for Your goodness and blessings. Please keep them coming, and as You do, we promise to use them to further the work You’ve done.”
