The Harvest

August 1, 2021 / Luke 10:1-2

“The Harvest” – Luke 10:1-2

Luke 10:1-2 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

God’s passion is people, and His call to us is to “witness” of Him to our world.

Our desire as a church family is to be committed to the work of Jesus here, there, and everywhere, all at the same time; just as He commanded.

A missionary in the Biblical sense is someone who keeps the mission of Jesus Christ central in their lives.

I. The in Missions.

The fact that the major denominations are in decline is more a testimony of the fact that we have lost our passion for His purpose than it is that God is no longer interested in seeing people saved.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Acts 18:9b-10 Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

II. The to Missions.

Luke 10:1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

1 Peter 4:17a For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God:

III. The for Missions.

Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

What the lost world needs today is for the Christian world to experience revival.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

And with missions in mind, I say to our church, “Only do what only you can do.”
