My Lord Should Come

“My Lord Should Come” – Luke 1:41-45

Luke 1:41-45 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Luke 1:5-6 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

Luke 1:7 And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

Luke 1:25 Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

I. A Proper Leads to .

Luke 1:42a And she spake out with a loud voice.

Did you know that God likes to hear us sing?

Psalm 100:2 Serve the Lord with gladness: Come before his presence with singing.

As we are still on the front end of this season let me just say that we should focus on the reason for this time, and we should praise Him with a proverbial megaphone.

When you see Jesus for Who He is, you cannot help but praise Him.

II. Faith Is Not Until It Is .

Luke 1:43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Acts 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

Luke 1:42b Blessed art thou among women.

Luke 1:47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

The only people who need a “Savior” are those in need of being saved.

III. Precedes .

Luke 1:42b-43 Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Before Jesus could do the work of the cross, He had to humble Himself by coming to us.

Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

To help others we must humbly set aside ourselves for a moment to consider the needs of those around us.

IV. The Blessing of Leads To .

Luke 1:45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Mary was “blessed” because she “believed,” and that her blessing would be “A performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.”

Mark 1:17b Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
