April 18, 2021 / Colossians 1:9-14

“God’s Heart for Your Life” – Colossians 1:9-14

Psalm 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; Yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his seed begging bread.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

All spiritual growth in life involves communicating with God through prayer.

I. Worship

Colossians 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: And with all thy getting get understanding.

II. Serve

Colossians 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

To serve is spiritual on-the-job training.

Ephesians 4:1b Walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.

III. Continue

Colossians 1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;

Nehemiah 8:10b for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

We can continue for Him because of Him.

Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

IV. Praise

Colossians 1:12-14 Which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

James 1:17a Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father.

2 Corinthians 3:6a Who also hath made us able ministers.

Psalm 9:1 I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.

Ephesians 1:11a In whom also we have obtained an inheritance.

Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, So far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
