THE POWER OF YOUR WORDS

“The Power of Our Words”

Text: Matthew 8:5-13; Proverbs 18:21

POINT: The hardest assignment that God will give you in life is controlling your words. Nothing is so hard to get right as YOUR MOUTH.

“Abracadabra” is actually taken from a Hebrew root word, A’bara K’adabra, and means “I will create as I have spoken.”

Genesis 1:1-2

“Then God said…., A’bara K’adabra let there be light.

“Then God said… , A’bara K’adabra ..let there be land.

Re: J.K. Rowling gave it to wizard Harry Potter. J.K. Rowling used it for a purpose that it wasn’t intended for.

1. YOUR WORDS – YOUR ACHIEVEMENT LEVEL.

Words determine the level of achievement that you will reach in your life.

Learning to embrace God’s words and learning to throttle back the flesh’s words is necessary for spiritual achievement.

Genesis 11-The tower of Babel.

What happens when people begin to speak the same language, the same words, and the same direction? That which is impossible becomes suddenly possible.

UNITY OF PURPOSE COMES FROM LANGUAGE AND WORDS.

Speaking the same words helps us advance the cause of Christ.

We have to understand the need to speak the same language and the same vision.

When everyone gives up their need to express their personal views so God’s kingdom can be enlarged, many great things are accomplished.

We must understand what God is saying to ROL’s body, so God can speak to us as his people.

Our victory at ROL is in our unity, and everyone speaking the word of truth and speaking the same thing.

WHAT WE AGREE ON:

THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD.

JESUS IS THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD.

THOSE WHO ARE BORN-AGAIN WILL GO TO HEAVEN.

THOSE WHO ARE NOT BORN-AGAIN WILL NOT GO TO HEAVEN.

THE GOSPEL NEEDS to be PREACHED.

2. HIS WORD – YOUR LIPS

“Abracadabra” -I will create with my words, let the thing be destroyed.

Before you ever get your words right, you must get your words right.

“Out of the heart flow the issues of life.”

Out of the abundance of your heart, the mouth speaks.

(Out of the “Perisseuma”=supply, the overflow, does it flow out)

-The position of your heart will determine the power of your words.

-The position of your heart in submission to God will determine the power of your words for God.

-The higher you are submitted to God, the higher the influence of your words.

The Authority Issue.

The centurion never said a word about faith.

Matthew 8:9, “I am a man in authority, and under authority.”

-We, as Americans, hate authority. We don’t like being told what to do.

-We want to run our own lives. We do not like submission.

-We have built a group of people in America who don’t know how to be humble and don’t recognize authority.

POINT: When people don’t understand authority, and they aren’t humble. They speak dismissively and speak egotistically. Their words are not right.

-The kingdom of heaven is all about having the right words.

-The kingdom of heaven and hell is built on authority structures.

-The authority structure sets you up to be used with the power of God.

-God wants to give you the authority He gave Adam and Eve. Still, if you don’t recognize spiritual authority, you can’t function in God’s humility for you.

James 4:7

You can’t stay under what God has put over you if you don’t stay over what God has put under you.

You can’t stay over principalities and powers if you don’t stay under submission for God’s will for your life.

3. HIS HEART – HIS WORDS.

Learning to respond to the beat of the spiritual heart.

[God, for whatever reason, chose to respond to the needs of humanity by the prayers of people. Nothing comes out of the invisible without first coming through the doorway of a human being’s prayerful heart.]

Matthew 8:13; Matthew 9:29

What is happening to you today does not control what is happening to you tomorrow.

AS YOUR FAITH IS, Stop looking at the circumstance, start looking at God.

-Your faith should cause words of hope to speak.

-God’s word coming out of your mouth will create blessings.

-Your words will limit God, and worse yet, produce a curse.

POINT: Speaking what God speaks, agreeing with God will change your life.

SPEAK HIS NAME NOT YOUR FRUSTRATION…
