Peace: the Calm of Christmas

December 12, 2021   /   Park Hill Baptist Church

Introduction

  • The Christmas season brings a lot of stress and pressure.
  • Schedules are jammed with activities, finances are stretched, travel is complicated, and expectations of others are difficult to live up to.
  • Do you ever just want to say – enough?
  • When the calm of Christmas is lost and replaced by chaos, we need to reread the beautiful description of the coming Messiah mentioned in the Old Testament book of Isaiah.

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Note that …

Human history is filled with war and oppression.

The Prince of Peace came to give us the help we need.
