Reset – Nehemiah Part 4

Nehemiah 8

1. The word of God must have in our lives.
   • Everyone was brought to the watergate to hear the reading of the scriptures – including !
     • Never underestimate a child’s ability to experience God at an early age.
   •  If you are wanting to do a reset on your heart this year, get into the Bible.
2.  We must the Bible to it.
   • Have you ever read a passage you didn’t understand? What do you do when that happens?
   • Mark Twain said, “it’s not the things in the Bible that I don’t understand that bother me, it’s the things I do understand.
   • If we’re honest with ourselves, could it be we don’t want to open the Bible because there are things we don’t like or don’t agree with?
   • Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
   • The Bible is always to our lives.
3.  Read the Bible for not information.
   • This is the goal of the Bible. Not just to know it, or even understand it, but to allow it to transform our lives.
   • James 1:22 NLT “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.”
   • Psalms 119:105 says, “your word is a lamp to my feet, a light to my path.”
   • I’ll speak for this church. As long as I am the pastor, this church will honor the Bible as God’s word for our life and it will be our priority and the authority of our lives.

Are you prepared to do a reset on your commitment to reading God’s word and accepting it as the priority and authority in your life this year?
