Part 2: GLORY IS TURNING IN YOUR FAVOR

Pastor Richard Donald

Psalm 30:1-12 NKJV
1 I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my foes rejoice over me.2 O Lord my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me.3 O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave; You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.4 Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.6 Now in my prosperity I said, “I shall never be moved.”7 Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was troubled.8 I cried out to You, O Lord; And to the Lord I made supplication:9 “What profit is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper!”11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

  1. INTRODUCTION

Giving honor & thanks for the glory God has bestowed upon us creates a momentum to experience an eternal weight of Glory and outpouring of His Spirit. The psalm begins with a celebration of God’s delivering favor, in which he invites others to join him; he relates his prayer during a time of distress, and God’s gracious and prompt answer. The psalmist says lift Him Up!

Extol- is rendered exalt in other places

Psalm 34:3: “O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.”

Psalm 99.5: “Exalt you the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.”

Psalm 99:9: “Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.”

  1. ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT GOD HAS ALREADY DONE
  2. Lifted Me
  3. He Prevented the Plan of The Enemy
  4. He Kept Me Alive
  5. He Delivered Me from the Pit

Three Views: Healed Me:

  1. “Healed” may be used figuratively for the removal of mental & spiritual sufferings
    1. Psalm 41:4: “I said, LORD, be merciful to me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against you.”
    1. Psalm 147:4: “I said, LORD, be merciful to me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against you.” In restoring my soul to spiritual health by forgiving the sin which is the cause of my sickness; or it may mean, restore my life – regarding his life as if it were diseased and in danger of extinction.

  1. “Healed me”—Bodily diseases affect all of us eventually, and relief comes by healing
    1. Psalm 6:2: “Have mercy on me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
  2. Healed Me- Restore back into a former position or stature Delivered Me From the Pit

Isaiah 38:17: “Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but you have in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for you have cast all my sins behind your back.” “Thou hast cast all my sins”—as in our Lord’s miracles, the bodily healing was the pledge and earnest of the spiritual. “Arise and walk” guaranteed, “Thy sins be forgiven thee” (Matthew 9:2-5).

III. KNOWING WHO GOD IS WILL GET YOU TO THE OTHER SIDE OF YOUR SITUATION

  1. He’s Not A God of Grudges, He’s A God of Grace

Psalm 135:13: “Your name, O LORD, endures for ever; and your memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.”

Psalm 8:1 Oh Lord our Lord, How Excellent is thy Name in all the earth! Who has set thy Glory above the Heavens.

The Lord’s Name is called His memorial, because it brings to mind all that He is and does.

Psalm 103:1 Bless the Lord oh my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name. Bless the Lord all my soul and forget not all his benefits.

Psalm 97:12: “Rejoice in the LORD, you righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.”

The idea is, when His holiness comes before the mind; when it is remembered; when it is thought of—Give thanks or rejoice!

Romans 5:20 NKJV
Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,

  1. Your Years Should Have Term Limits On Setbacks

Isaiah 54:7 For a small moment have I forsaken you; but with great mercies will I gather you”

Always remember this – if it isn’t yoke easy or burden light – then it isn’t Me. Some depict walking in My kingdom as a difficult and burdensome thing, but that is not who I am, and that is not where I am taking you. When I lead you, it will be beside still waters and green pastures. There will always be the unknown part of things, and there will always be the enemy out there threatening, but what is that to you when I have gathered you to Myself and seated you at My table? Enter into My rest today, says the Father. Always remind yourself that it is the Father in you that does the works and not yourself.

  1. Favor is for a Lifetime

Psalm 63:3 Because your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you

In the work of redemption, Christ took all our striving, all our stress, and all our burdens upon Himself – not as our example but as our substitute. Never try to carry what He suffered to alleviate in your life. Never attempt to suffer as He suffered because only what He did on the Cross has any merit before the throne.

  1. PRAY KNOWING HE CAN HANDLE THE TRUTH ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE

Psalm 30:6-10 NKJV
6 Now in my prosperity I said, “I shall never be moved.”7 Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was troubled.8 I cried out to You, O Lord;
And to the Lord I made supplication:9 “What profit is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me;
Lord, be my helper!”

  1. It’s Okay to Admit You’re in A Tough Spot
  1. Condition: , ,
  2. Confused
  3. Contention
  4. Contrition
  1. I Need God to Hear and Help Me When I’m Hurting

Psalm 27:5: “For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up on a rock.” He shall set me up on a rock—A place where I shall be secure; a place inaccessible to my enemies.

  1. GOD WILL CHANGE YOU BEFORE HE CHANGES YOUR SITUATION

Psalm 30:11-12 Thou has turned for me my mourning into dancing; thou has put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness. To the end that my glory may sing praises to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

  1. My Posture Changed When I Received Your Promise

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice Always. Pray without Ceasing. In Everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

  1. God Didn’t Turn It for You to Not Tell It
