Matters of the Heart: Pt. 2 The Kingdom Heart

Part 2: The Kingdom Heart
1 Peter 4:6-19 6 For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. 16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter. 17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now “If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?” 19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.
- INTRODUCTION
- AFTER GOD RESTORED YOU, HE RELEASED HIS SPIRIT TO SUSTAIN YOU
- You Could Not Receive It Until You Were Whole 1 Peter 4:1-3
- The Outpouring Does Not Discriminate 1 Peter 4:4-8
Above all, Most Important of all A.S.B: “Keep fervent”. N.L.T: “Continue to show deep love for each other”
Love: God’s Unconditional Care for Us
1 John 4: 6-13 NIV 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit[a] of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.13 This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit.
III. THE SPIRIT WILL PUSH EVERY GIFT IN YOU OUT OF YOU
- The Gifts Operate In Unique Spaces 1 Peter 4:9-10
Sometimes ‘love’ is too general a word;
- So Peter gives us an opportunity to tangibly demonstrate it.
- N.I.V: “Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling”.
Hospitality: The term ‘hospitable’ comes from combining two Greek words;
- Meaning “love” and “stranger.”
- Notice that the word ‘hospital’ is in the word hospitality?
- Because hospitals take care of you, that’s what hospitality is.
- Hospitality literally means “Showing love to strangers.”
- Hospitality takes time, effort, and money,
- And often it requires an invasion of privacy.
- Quote: “Hospitality is when you make someone feel at home when you wish they were at home”
- What Is In You Was Not Just for You 1 Peter 4:11
John 13:34-35 ” New commandment I give unto you, that you love one another, as I have loved you, love one another. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples
Matthew 5:16 Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.
The apostle Peter summarizes spiritual gifts into two kinds of categories:
- Gifts of speaking (Greek ‘laleo’); as one speaking the very words of God.
- And gifts of serving (‘diakoneo’). with the strength God provides.
Equates to One Thing: Glory
(11B) If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
PRESENCE WILL BE EVIDENT BY SUPERNATURAL MANIFESTATION
- This Is The Season Of Unexplainable Manifestation 1 Peter 4:12-13
The Remnant of God: Those who are blessed beyond measure despite their failures and weaknesses. They are blessed because they are pleasing to God because of their faith. The bible says over and over, that without faith it is impossible to please God.
The Remnant is a recurring theme throughout the Hebrew and Christian Bible. The Anchor Bible describes it as “What is left of a community after it undergoes a catastrophe
Romans 9:27 27 Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved.
Romans 11:1-5 I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: 3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”? 4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”[ 5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.
Isaiah 51:16 I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand—I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people.’”
Ezra 9:8 8 “But now, for a brief moment, the Lord our God has been gracious in leaving us a remnant and giving us a firm place[a] in his sanctuary, and so our God gives light to our eyes and a little relief in our bondage.
Genesis 45:7 7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
Romans 10:13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

1 John 2:28 28 And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.
- Deliverance Is About To Hit The House 1 Peter 4: 17-19
Isaiah 62:10-12 10 Go through, Go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, Build up the highway! Take out the stones, Lift up a banner for the peoples!11 Indeed the Lord has proclaimed To the end of the world: “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Surely your salvation is coming; Behold, His reward is with Him, And His [a]work before Him.’ ”12 And they shall call them The Holy People, The Redeemed of the Lord; And you shall be called Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken.
The gate: is symbolic of Christ being the entry point into the presence of God. It is through faith in His blood that we have access into the presence of God . Christ said , I am the door (gate) to the promises of God.
John 10:9 I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
