Exposing a Prideful Heart
Proverbs 16:18-25
Each morning the enemy lays out landmines in our lives. When not in a place of discernment we will fall prey to his tactics. The landmine of pride can tear a gaping hole in the life of the person who yields to its folly. The bible is clear that God hates pride James 4:6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”. The same message gets states in Proverbs 3:34 He mocks proud mockers but shows favor to the humble and oppressed. . Its listed among four things the Lord hates Proverbs 8:13 13To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Pride finds it place among seven things that are an abomination to God Proverbs 6:17-19 17haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, ^18a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, ^19a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
Pride is one of Satan’s chief modes of operation and favorite weapons of warfare because it tempts us to take our eyes off God and place them on ourselves. The refuses to share His Glory with Anyone. We fall prey to pride when we forget that God does not exist for us but we exist for Him.
