Romans 12:1-2 (NLT) Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Mark 10:27 (NCV) “For people this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.”

Philippians 4:13 (NLT) For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Four Causes of Conflict

1.  Poor .

Proverbs 21:23 (The Message) Watch your words and hold your tongue; you’ll save yourself a lot of grief.

Psalm 141:3 (NIV) Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.

2.  Unfulfilled .

Proverbs 13:12 (NIV) Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

James 4:1-2 (NIV) What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don’t get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight.  You do not have because you do not ask God.

3.  Despising .

Mark 3:25 (NIV) If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

 

4.  Sin .

Romans 3:23 (NLT) For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Four Ways to Deal with Conflict

Handling Conflict God’s Way

1.  I will not .

Pre-Fight Rules:

  • Don’t until tomorrow, what you need to do today.

Ephesians 4:26-27 (NIV) “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.

“Never waste an opportunity to express your love to someone because another opportunity is something life can’t promise.”

 

  • Don’t .

Proverbs 18:21 (NIV) The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

 

  • Don’t .

Proverbs 15:1 (NCV) A gentle answer will calm a person’s anger, but an unkind answer will cause more anger.

1 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV) Love keeps no record of wrongs.

 

  • Don’t threaten .

1 John 4:18 (NIV) There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear…

Philippians 4:8,9 (NIV) Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things… And the God of peace will be with you.

Romans 12:19-21 (NIV) Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

1 John 4:9-11 (MSG) This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God. My dear, dear friends, if God loved us like this, we certainly ought to love each other.
