January 26, 2025   /   Vineyard Church

“The LORD said to Moses, send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each ancestral tribe send one of its leaders.” Numbers 13:1 (NIV)

EYES OF FEAR CAUSE US TO

  1. Underestimated what can do.

“We are all afraid of you; everyone is terrified if the word ‘Israel’ is even mentioned. For we have heard how the Lord made a path through the Red Sea for you when you left Egypt!… No wonder we are afraid of you! No one has any fight left in him after hearing things like that, for your God is the supreme God of heaven, not just an ordinary god.” Joshua 2:9-11 (LB)

  1. Underestimated what can do.

“We felt like grasshoppers before them, they were so tall!” Numbers 13:33 (MSG)

[Joshua 14:7-15]

  1. Allows our problems to our perspective.

“Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the LORD…The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, ‘If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost—also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic.” Numbers 11:1,4-5 (NIV)

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 (NIV)

THREE RESULTS OF SEEING WITH EYES OF FEAR

  1. You get .

“That night all the people of the community raised their voices and wept aloud.”  Numbers 14:1 (NIV)

  1. You feel

“All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, ‘If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this desert!” Numbers 14:2 (NIV)

  1. You get

“Why is the LORD bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword? Our wives and children will be taken as plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?’ And they said to each other, ‘We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.” Number 14:3 (NIV)

“At one time you were slaves to sin… But now you have been set free from sin and are the slaves of God. Your gain is a life fully dedicated to him, and the result is eternal life. For sin pays its wage—death; but God’s free gift is eternal life in union with Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Rom 6:17-22-23 (GN)

“Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, ‘We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” Numbers 13:30 (NIV)

“For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me and Silas and Timothy—was not ‘Yes’ and ‘No,’ but in him it has always been ‘Yes.’ For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God. ”  2 Cor 1:19-20 (NIV)

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”                       Matthew 6:34 (MSG)

“The LORD said to Abram, ‘From where you are, look carefully in all directions. I am going to give you and your descendants all the land that you see, and it will be yours forever.” Genesis 13:14-15 (GN)
