Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. One of the superpowers of the church – one of the superpowers of every Jesus follower – a superpower that we can call on any time that we choose – is the superpower of good. Good is something we were created to do. Good pierces the darkness. Good pierces the deafness. Good pierces the hardness. Good pierces cynicism. Good pierces skepticism. Good pierces stereotypes. Good pierces hate. Good pierces despair. Good is God’s global strategy. When we do good we are opening doors – planting the seeds of Jesus – we are helping others – we are fulfilling the will of God – and we are pointing people to Jesus in this changes the world. Let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful” Titus 3:14. “Let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good” 1 Peter 4:19; “See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone” 1 Thessalonians 5:15. “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” Romans 12:21. Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you” Luke 6:27. Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith. Let’s see what God can do!
