Rejoice! | John 12:12-16
12 The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.
13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!”
14 And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!”
16 His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him.
Luke 19:39-4039 And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”40 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
Three Reasons You Must Rejoice In Christ Alone:I. Rejoice! Because Jesus Sacrificed Himself for Your Sins
12 The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem.
Matthew 16:21From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he MUST go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.
Acts 4:27-2827 for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,
28 to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place.
NLT John 1:29The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! There is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
1 Corinthians 5:7b“For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.”
Romans 8:1-21 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
Psalm 95:1-21 Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
Three Reasons You Must Rejoice In Christ Alone:II. Rejoice! Because Jesus Is Your King
NLT Psalm 118:25a“Please, LORD, please save us.”
John 12:13b“Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!”
Psalm 118:26Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD! We bless you from the house of the LORD.
Zechariah 9:9Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
John 18:33So Pilate entered his headquarters again and called Jesus and said to him, “Are you the King of the Jews?”
NLT John 18:36“Then Jesus answered, “I am not an earthly king. If I were, my followers would have fought when I was arrested by the Jewish leaders. But my Kingdom is not of this world.”
Revelation 19:11-1611 Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.
12 His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
14 And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses.
15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.
16 On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
Three Reasons You Must Rejoice In Christ Alone:III. Rejoice! Because You Know Who Jesus Is and What He Has Done for You
16 His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him.
Isaiah 53:5-105 But he was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed!
6 All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the guilt and sins of us all.
7 He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth.
8 From prison and trial they led him away to his death. But who among the people realized that he was dying for their sins– that he was suffering their punishment?
9 He had done no wrong, and he never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave.
10 But it was the LORD’s good plan to crush him and fill him with grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have a multitude of children, many heirs. He will enjoy a long life, and the LORD’s plan will prosper in his hands.
Jesus paid it all,All to Him I owe;Sin had left a crimson stain,He washed it white as snow.
