26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, 27 to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. 28 Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!” 29 Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. 30 “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! (Luke 1:26-30)

31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. 32 He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. 33 And he will reign over Israel forever; his Kingdom will never end!” 34 Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” 35 The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:31-35)

Do I want to fulfill my or God’s ?

1.

Rest is one of our best of our trust in the Lord.

28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

2.

23 Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me. 24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. (Luke 9:23-24)

I will rarely have all the power I need to , but I have all the power I need to .

3.

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

My for control is rooted in a lack of .

17 Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. 18 Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. (1 Timothy 6:17-18)

What am I trying to control that God is asking me to Him with and to ?

There are Christmas Eve serving opportunities available at the Yes Boards at both campuses. We encourage you to serve one gathering and attend one gathering. Sign up here.

WHO WILL YOU INVITE?

Christmas is a great opportunity to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal a person in our lives that we can pursue with the love of Christ. After the gathering, we encourage you to find the chalkboard in the lobby and write the first name of the person you would like to invite. You can also take an invitation card with you on your way out to start praying over your person.

BLUE CHRISTMAS

Christmas isn’t always easy. Grief and other hardships can make it difficult. Our Crossroads Downtown campus, 116 North Main, will be hosting a community service on December 21 at 7 p.m. Find out more details.
