Wisdom is the most precious gift we can have

Christ Jesus has become for us wisdom from God. I Corinthians 1:30 (NIV)

The whole area of finances is another aspect of our lives where we need wisdom

Parents can teach children basic principles about money

What we save, give and spend are always big considerations

In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish person devours all they have” Proverbs 21:20

Some give freely, yet grow all the richer; others withhold what is due, and only suffer want. Prov 11:24 (NRSV)

  1. Our perspective toward money

Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint. [5] Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle. Proverbs 23:4-5 (NIV)

Such is the end of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the lives of those who get it. Proverbs 1:19 (NIV)

Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life. Proverbs 22:4 (NIV)

  1. Our approach to lending and debt

There’s danger in putting up security for a stranger’s debt; it’s safer not to guarantee another person’s debt. Proverbs 11:15 (NLT2)

The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7 (NIV)

  1. Our dealing with the poor

He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done. Proverbs 19:17 (NIV)

A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed. Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)

  1. Our giving to God

Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; [10] then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10 (NIV)

Our relationship with Jesus includes wisdom from God about our finances!
