I’m a Christian, So Now What?
Acts: So They May Hear
April 27, 2025
Dr. Clayton Chisum
The Gospels show you how to be saved, Acts shows you what to do so others may hear.
Acts 1:1-2 NLT
Acts 1:3 NLT
Acts 1:4-5 NLT
Acts 1:6 NLT
Acts 1:7 NLT
Our problem may be that in our desire for our holiness we lose sight of the lostness all around us. The truth is, we have an obligation toward both.
Acts 1:8 NLT
Once saved, you may think “I’m a Christian, so now what?”
Being a isn’t
- You have a .
Matthew 16:24 NLT
- You also have a .
Acts 1:8 NLT
We glamorized foreign missions to the point that few go, and we downplayed reaching our neighbors to the point that few do. We’ve failed our mission fields.
Discussion Questions:
- How do you see the Gospels (showing how to be saved) and Acts (showing what to do next) working together in your faith journey?
- In Acts 1:6, the disciples ask Jesus about restoring Israel’s kingdom, focusing on their own expectations. Have you ever had a moment when you expected God to work in one way, but He had a bigger plan? How did that shift your perspective?
- The sermon highlights two key practices for Christians: (1) feeding your relationship with Jesus and (2) accepting the mission to share Him with others. Which of these feels more natural to you, and which feels more challenging? Why?
- Acts 1:8 calls Christians to be witnesses “in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Where is your “Jerusalem” (your immediate community or circle)? What’s one practical step you could take to share Jesus there?
- American Christians sometimes focus on their own holiness or cultural ideals, losing sight of the lost around them. How can we balance pursuing personal holiness with actively reaching out to others?
- What’s one specific way you can commit to growing your faith and sharing your faith this week (e.g., praying for a neighbor, reading Acts 2, serving someone)?
