Appetites and Mercy

Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they will be filled.”

Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you.”

How do we get hungry and thirsty for righteousness so that we can be filled?

1. Get things right with .

John 15:5 “Apart from me you can do nothing. It has taken me a lifetime to figure that out!”

2. Get and thirsty for righteousness. 

Hebrews 12:1 “Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

Psalms 34:8 “Taste and see that the Lord is good!”

Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”

Why should we show mercy?

1. God has it to us.

Luke 7:47 “Therefore Simon, her many sins have been forgiven–for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.” 

2. Other people it from us.

Is there someone in your life who needs mercy and do they need a lifeline or do you need to swim out and rescue them? 

3. In the future we will it again.

Mercy is a tall order and we need Jesus to help us be more merciful so we can be blessed and be a blessing to others!

Happy are the merciful for they will receive mercy.
