Upside Down – Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be satisfied. – Matthew 5:6
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. – James 2:10
Righteousness is the quality of being right in the eyes of God. That includes our character, conscience and conduct.
Conduct
For the Lord is our judge,
the Lord is our lawgiver,
the Lord is our king;
it is he who will save us. – Isaiah 33:22
‘Be careful not to practise your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.’ – Matthew 6:1
Character
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. – Ephesians 4:22-24
Conscience
‘How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God’! – Hebrews 9:14
When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. – John 16: 8-11
