God’s Word – Basic Bible Study – Week Three

May 26, 2020

If you were to discover that God’s plans for the world and for you had been written down in a book, what would that book be worth to you?

If you got your hands on that book, how much time would you spend reading it? Rather, how much time do you spend reading it?

That book exists. It’s called the Bible, and it’s full of things God wants you to know.

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.Psalm 119:11, NIV

What does John 17:17 say about the Word of God?

How can you be assured that the Bible is true? Read 2 Timothy 3:16.

What will God’s Word (message or commands) do for you, according to:

2 Timothy 3:15?

John 15:3?

Acts 20:32?

As you are reading John’s Gospel, you may notice teachings about the importance of the Word.

What did Christ do with the Word (command or saying) of his Father? Read John 8:55.

What place does God’s Word (message or truth) have in the lives of some people? Read John 8:37.

If you belong to God, what will you do about his Word? Read John 8:47.

What will a true disciple of Christ do with his Word (revelation or teaching)? Read John 8:31.

What should you do with the Word (command, teaching, or saying) to maintain spiritual and eternal life? Read John 8:51.

If you love Christ, what will you do? Read John 14:23.

Who does John 20:31 say the written Word points you to? What will believing in this person give you?

The devil may try to defeat you, but God has given you a weapon with which to defeat him. Ephesians 6:17 says it is the sword of the Spirit, which:

How did Jesus resist the devil in Matthew 4:4, 7, 10?

According to Psalm 119:11 (see this week’s memory verse), what can you do with God’s Word to keep from sinning?

What truth from God’s Word has especially helped you recently? Why should a Christian study the Bible every day?

Memory Verse
