14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as  he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be  holy, for I am holy.” – 1 Peter 1:14-16 (ESV) 

 AND  ARE MARKS OF A GENUINE CHRISTIAN.

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, – 1 Peter  1:14 (ESV) 

• Evil Desires 

– ‘I have not coveted anyone’s silver, gold, or clothing’ (Ac 20:33) 

– anyone who looks at a woman lustfully’ Mt 5:28. 

– ‘many foolish desires’ 1 Tm 6:9;  

– ‘do not gratify the desires of the body’ Ga 5:16. 

• Ignorant Ways 

– The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to  repent, (Acts 17:30) 

– They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. (Ephesians 4:18) 

2. YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER AND REFLECT HIS . 

[As obedient children…] 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your  conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 

CALLING TO HOLINESS 

:  

14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the  night…18b and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.” (Gen 1) 

:  

For I, the Lord, am the one who brought you up from the land of Egypt, that I might be your  God. Therefore, you must be holy because I am holy. (Lev 11:45) 

: 

“You shall be holy to me, for I the Lord am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that  you should be mine.” (Lev 20:26)

CALL FOR ACTION TO HOLINESS 

: Sabbath unto the Lord. (Ex 20:8)

: Serve God, maximize your gifts (1 Pt 4:10)

: Give cheerfully (2 Cor. 9:7)
