Fasting and Spiritual Conflict (21 Days of Prayer and Fasting)

January 9, 2022   /   New Hope Community Church

2 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three weeks. 3 I ate no delicacies, no meat or  wine entered my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, for the full three weeks… 12 Then  he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to  understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I  have come because of your words. 13 The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood  me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was  left there with the kings of Persia, – Daniel 10:2-3; 12-13 (ESV)

  • EXPECT  WHEN YOU FAST AND PRAY.
  • WE DO NOT FAST AND PRAY TO MAKE LIFE BETTER…WE FAST AND PRAY BECAUSE  JESUS IS BETTER THAN LIFE.

1 O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. 3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. – Psalm 63:1-3

“Life is dear, but God’s love is dearer. To dwell with God is better than life at its best; life at  ease, in a palace, in health, in honor, in wealth, in pleasure; Yea, a thousand lives are not  equal to the eternal life which abides in Jehovah’s smile.” – Charles Spurgeon

3 Types of Fasts

  1. : no food or water
  2.  : abstaining from food but drinking lots of water.
