IAM Week 5
I AM the vine
John 15:1-11 ESV
““I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”
Jeremiah 2:21 ESV
“Yet I planted you a choice vine, wholly of pure seed. How then have you turned degenerate and become a wild vine?”
The purposes of pruning are to:
Galatians 5:22-23 ESV
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
Jude 1:7 ESV
“just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.”
Revelation 20:14 ESV
“Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.”
Ephesians 2:8 ESV
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,”
God’s Grace is a gift. You did nothing to deserve it.
You may hear the world say I’m living my best life.
Your best life with your heart means damnation. The only amount of good is Christ and nothing else.
Christ brings us .
That’s how we can be distinguished by how we
Christ can only bring true
The World can only bring
