Dysfunctional Families Don’t Talk about God
How Do I Talk About God With My Family?

4 “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.Deuteronomy 6:4 (NLT)

5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.Deuteronomy 6:5 (NLT)

How do I TALK about God with my family?

1.God’s Word In Your Heart.

6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today.Deuteronomy 6:6 (NLT)

11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.Psalm 119:11 (NLT)

8 In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach:

9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.Romans 10:8–10 (NLT)

Have you taken the time to place God’s Word in your heart so you can talk about Him?

2. Talk About God.

7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.Deuteronomy 6:7 (NLT)

More is CAUGHT than TAUGHT.

7 And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.Titus 2:7 (NLT)

What is that one thing that your family says, “He’s / She’s always talking about….”

3. God’s Word In Unforgettable Ways.

8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders.

9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.Deuteronomy 6:8–9 (NLT)

15 Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.1 Peter 3:15 (NLT)

Can you readily explain why you are a Christian?
