Lesson 6

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”  Acts 2:42-47

Prayer is about the glory of God, so we will have a testimony.

1. If we the will began to call on God in praise and prayer.

“Praise God in the great congregation; praise the Lord in the assembly of Israel.” Psalm 68:26 (NIV)

“Between Monday and Saturday men make an audience. On Sunday, they make a congregation.” ~  Mokokoma Mokhonoana

2. God is waiting to be into the life of every congregation

to that congregation

to HIS LIFE in that congregation

to that congregation

to be in the community.

“Our calling is not just within the walls of the congregation, but we are part of the life and community in which our condition resides.” ~ ClementaC. Pinckney

“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”  Ephesians 4:1-3 (NKJV)

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”   Romans 12:1-2

3. The is God’s executor of carrying out the purposes of God in our lives and the church.

“And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”  Acts 4:31

The Holy Spirit is God’s only agent on earth. Any good that is going to happen has to be done by the Holy Spirit.

4. One of the things that stops the Holy Spirit from influencing us in a good way and building up our prayer lives is .

Disunity is bad enough, but enough, that it hinders prayer, it’s a critical thing.

“Do not make sinful plans against one another in your hearts. And do not love to make false promises. For I hate all these things,’ says the Lord.”  Zechariah 8:17 (NLV)

5. and one another and showing is such a prerequisite for powerful praying.

“Fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”   Philippians 2:2-4(NKJV)

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35 (NKJV)
