THE BOLD CONFESSION – Lesson 3

KINGDOM DISCIPLES
HEAVEN’S REPRESENTATIVES ON EARTH

THE BOLD CONFESSION
Lesson 3

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

FAITH ALONE – CHRIST ALONE

1. A person is saved for eternity by faith in Christ alone.

“And all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:24

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

When the Bible talks about discipleship, it talks about a cost.

You’re saved by faith apart from works (Romans 4), but you become a disciple by a faith that does not work (James 2).

2. The word , when you’re not saved, means to be delivered from eternal separation from God. When you are saved, it means God delivering you in history.

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.” James 1:19-21

“”If anyone comes to me and does n)to hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.”” Luke 14:26-27

DISCIPLESHIP REQUIRES A .

THE COMMITMENT TO BE A DISCIPLE

1. 2.

“Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” Luke 9:23

A. Your cross, as a kingdom disciple, is the price tag that comes with your with Him.

“The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David; BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Hosanna in the highest!” Matthew 21:9 (NASB 1995);

“Pilate *said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all *said, “Crucify Him!” Matthew 27:22 (NASB 1995)

“For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.” Colossians 1:16

B. To be a kingdom disciple means that you wisely, lovingly, and appropriately make it clear that you are a .

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” Matthew 28:18

It is your willingness to be connected with Jesus that make you a disciple.

THREE TENSES OF SALVATION

“that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, ]resulting in salvation..” Romans 10:9-10 (NASB 1995)

1. Salvation past from penalty of sin –

2. Salvation future from the presence of sin –

3. Salvation from the power of sin –

A. is related to your deliverance in history, not your deliverance in eternity.

“For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”” Romans 10:13

You are not only a Christian going to heaven. You’re a kingdom disciple who has heaven joining you on earth.
