RECEIVING MERCY

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
“I really do believe that God is love, one of deep affection and grace and forgiveness and inspiration.” ~ William P. Young
1. The three biggest words in the Christian vocabulary , and .
A. Justice is what we deserve.
B. Mercy is we deserve.
C. Grace is getting we deserve.
When we understand the mercy and grace that await us every time we come to the throne of God, we will find ourselves running there as often as possible.
“Now is the perfect time for you to get to the throne of grace. What do you need? Mercy? It’s there. You need wisdom? Or grace in some other form? You need strength? You’re running out of gas and the battery is low? I’m telling you, whatever the needs are, God is able to meet every single one of them. He is faithful to answer when we come to the throne of grace.” ~ Jim Cymbala
2. At the throne of grace, we discover that Christ has taken the just for all our sins.
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24 (NIV)

“I do not understand the mystery of grace — only that it meets us where we are and does not leave us where it found us.” ~ Anne Lamott
4. When we go to the throne of grace and open our hearts in prayer, we can ask God for .
“When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me…. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” AND You forgave the iniquity of my sin.” Psalm 32:3-5 (NKJV)
“Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the LORD does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.” Psalm 32:1-2
5. God is waiting at the throne for you to, and .
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
“Men always ought to pray and not lose heart.” Luke 18:1 (NKJV)
For me, prayer is just talking to God-it’s that simple. Prayer is just telling God exactly how you feel. You don’t have to put a mask on; you don’t have to come to him whole; you don’t have to come to him hiding things. He already knows. I’m beginning to understand God in a more intimate way the more I talk to him and spend time with him. And it’s not just in a church building. It’s every day of your life, every morning, talking to him, welcoming him into your day, and just saying. “God use me; have your way in my life.” ~ Timiney
