KINGDOM AUTHORITY

Lesson 7

The Authority of the Word of God

“The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” (Psalm 19:7)

The Scripture provides the unshakeable foundation on which we stand. His Word is the one solid basis for authority in this sin-scarred world.

1. God is the .

2. His truths were true from and will continue into .

SIX TENETS OF OUR FUNDAMENTAL FAITH

1. God inspired all

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” (2 Timothy 3:16)

2. The of Jesus. (Luke 1:27-35)

3. Jesus’ . Jesus is fully God, yet fully man.

“Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! (Philippians 2:6-8)

4.

5.

6.
“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (John 14:2-3)

Kingdom Authority and the authority of the Word of God are inextricably interwoven. We cannot live in powerful and conquering confidence without a sure word from God.

THE PERFECTION OF GOD’S WORD

For us to believe in the authority of the Word of God, we must believe in the inerrancy of the Word of God.

1. All Scripture is .

2. Protected from .

“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:20-21)

3. God called His Book the Word of God and He also called the Word of God.

4. The character of the and the character of are inseparable.

5. Jesus is the .

6. The Living Word believed the .

The Bible, all of it, is about Jesus. We must read it, learn it and use it to overcome barriers.

THE POWER OF THE WORD OF GOD

1. The Word

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

2. The Word

“For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” (1 Peter 1:23)

3. The Word

“You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.” (John 15:3)

4. The Word

5. The Word

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” (John 5:24)
