RICH TOWARD GOD
Lesson 3 – GIVING GENEROUSLY – Part 2

“A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.” Leviticus 27:30

“Tithing isn’t really giving – It’s returning.” ~ Robert Morris

I. Committing to tithe helps us remember that it’s all his.

A. The tenth is a of the total.

B. People matter to God, and makes a difference.

C. The amount I give the amount received.

D. God will be with me.

God wants us to realize that the big test is his, that he and he alone is to be the focus of our faith. Giving at least a tithe of our income is truly his test.

There’s an old saying that both intrigues and challenges me. It goes like this, “When the student is taking a test the teacher is quiet.” While it’s totally true that the test in tithing should be understood, from scripture, as God’s test, our human nature almost always leads us to feel tested in this area of our giving, too.

II. Why is my “” delayed?

You may be prepared and ready for the blessing, but God may still be preparing the situation for you.

You may be obeying God and holding true to everything he has called you to.

For many people, expenses rise along with income so, if you’re not ready, you might be in the same situation really soon.

We must always see financial blessing as an additional way to grow in giving, too.

The more you do right, the more he will want to derail you.

Waiting on God will also heighten our sense of appreciation, especially in the area of giving.

God may be preparing you for something that no one can anticipate, and your willingness to stay tough and true could be part of the training process.
