APPROACHING THE THRONE OF GRACE
GOD BRINGS THE ANSWER
“Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:13-16 (NIV)
“There is no stopping the power of prayer. There’s no stopping God from answering our prayers as our hearts reach up to him and we pray according to the Word of God. We can’t be discouraged by anything we’re facing today, because we walk by faith, not by sight. It doesn’t matter what we see right now- for what we see is not what God sees. We have to hold on to God and say, “We’re not letting you go until we see your promises fulfilled in our lives, our families, and our churches.” There’s no telling what God can do when his people pray.” ~ Jim Cymbala
When you are in trouble you should pray. God is the one who’s going to bring the answer.
1. Your in Jesus is essential for you to truly please God.
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
“I’d rather be in the heart of Africa in the will of God, than on the throne of England, out of the will of God.” ~ David Livingston
2. So faith is the important in prayer.
“And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.” Matthew 9:28-29 (KJV)
Sometimes we have little faith, so we make little prayers and get little answers.
We pray in faith and that faith comes from hearing the word of God and letting the Holy Spirit work on it.
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 (KJV)
“In prayer, we stand where angels bow with veiled faces. There, even there, the cherubim and seraphim adore before that selfsame throne to which our prayers ascend. And shall we come there with stunted requests and narrow, contracted faith?”~ Charles Spurgeon
4. How do we grow our faith by and on the word of God?
As you Pray: “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” Joshua 1:8 (NIV)
“Treading beneath their feet all visible things, As steps that upwards to their Father’s throne Lead gradual.” ~ Samuel Taylor Coleridge
If we know the promises of God, we can pray with faith, “God, do as you promised.”
The word of God and the Holy Spirit cannot be separated from prayer.
5. One of the biggest enemies of the prayer of faith and that is .
“No pain, no palm no thorns, no throne no gall, no glory, no glory no cross, no crown.” ~ William Penn
God is always near no matter how we are feeling.
“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” Psalm 50:15 (NKJV)
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)
