We Love 40509 | Week Three

Don’t Let Them Miss It!  | John 1:35-42a, Acts 9:10-19

Acts 1:8 “…and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

One of the greatest acts of love a Christian can show another person, is to introduce them to Jesus.

Thomas Edison “Go get your mother and all her friends. They’ll never see a fire like this again.”

John 1:35-37 “The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God!’ 37 When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.

John 1:38-39 “Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, ‘What do you want?’ They said, ‘Rabbi’ (which means ‘Teacher’), ‘where are you staying?’ 39 ‘Come,’ he replied, ‘and you will see.’ So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.”

John 1:40-42a “Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus.” 41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus.”

Those closest to us, are almost always the first people we tell important things.

Matthew 4:19-20 “And He said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him” (NASB).

Acts 9:10-19 “In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, ‘Ananias!’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ he answered. 11 The Lord told him, ‘Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. 12 In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.’

Acts 9:1 “…Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples.”

Acts 9:13-14 “‘Lord,’ Ananias answered, ‘I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. 14 And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.’”

Acts 9:15-16 “But the Lord said to Ananias, ‘Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”

Acts 9:17-19 “Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, ‘Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.’ 18 Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, 19 and after taking some food, he regained his strength.”

Key Point: Sometimes God directs us to go to people we don’t even know.

Philippians 1:21 “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

Acts 20:24 “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God” (NLT).

Is it possible that I could trust God to grow my heart so that I would share the good news with anyone?
