BLESS | Begin with Prayer – Genesis 12:2-3, Luke 6:12-13
Golden Rule “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
The best way to live this mission is to be a BLESSING to the people God puts in our lives.
Genesis 12:2-3 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Matthew 14:23 “…he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.”
Mark 1:35 “Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”
Two Important Aspects about Prayer:
1. Prayer is a privilege.
Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
2. Prayer Works.
James 5:16 “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
1 John 5:14-15 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
William Temple “When I pray, coincidences happen; when I don’t, they don’t.”
Make time to Listen to God
Luke 4:1 “Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,”
Luke 6:12 “One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. 13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles”
To “Begin with Prayer” here is a practical way to get started:
- Make a Plan
- Get Prepared
- Ask God to show you the People
You never know where you might meet them.
Following Jesus isn’t meant to be easy; it was meant to be life-changing!
